Briarcliff Parade of Lights

Feeling festive? Dress up the homestead with lights and make a run for winning the annual Briarcliff lighting contest, sponsored by the Village of Briarcliff. Judging will be from December 20-22, and cash prizes will be given for the winners. First prize is $100, second is $50, and third is $25. Additionally there will be Honorable Mentions. No need to register your house- just make sure you plug those lights in on the days of the contest!

Check out the Congratulatory letter from the Texas A&M Forest Service to the Village of Briarcliff for the recent effort to contain the oak wilt disease. Thanks to all the folks that assisted in the effort and to the Village and the BPOA for sharing the cost of the operation. The Village of Briarcliff adopted a Diseased Tree Ordinance October 26, 2016. Numerous items are included however two main items are important regarding oak trees.
1. It is unlawful to prune, cut, or trim oak trees from February 1 through June 30.
2.  It is unlawful, regardless of the time of year; to prune, cut or trim oak trees without applying black tree wound dressing or commercial pruning paint immediately to all wounds of any size.
